3. BIBLIOTECA PÚBLICA MUNICIPAL 196 DE ISLA DE MAIPO
Donde antes se dictaban leyes, hoy se leen historias.
Su ubicación corresponde al terreno donado por el primer alcalde de la comuna en 1900, donde se encontraba la primera municipalidad y también compartió terreno con la tenencia de carabineros. Fue sede temporal de varias oficinas municipales e incluso del juzgado.
Con los años, el edificio fue adaptado como biblioteca, inicialmente nace como una fusión entre escuelas, donde sus profesores compartían material bibliográfico para sus clases. Hoy, la biblioteca cumple la valiosa labor de fomentar la lectura compartiendo con la comunidad su amplia variedad de títulos y actividades destacando como un espacio abierto para grandes y pequeños.

Where laws were once drafted, stories are now read.
This was the site of the first municipal offices and shared land with the police station. The land was donated by Mr David López Vásquez in 1900. It also temporarily housed several public offices and the local courthouse.
Over the years, the building was adapted into a library, initially created through a collaboration between local schools, whose teachers shared books for their classes. Today, the library plays an important role promoting reading and community engagement through a wide variety of titles and activities, making it a welcoming space for all ages.
